ISLAMABAD – More than sixty thousand people visited the National Book Day Festival organised by National History and Literary Heritage Division last week in Islamabad.
In recent meeting held at National History and Literary Heritage Division, Special Adviser on National Affairs Irfan Siddiqui felicitated the officials of his division and National Book Foundation for organising the successful mega National Book Festival in federal capital.
The Adviser also directed his division and NBF officials to start preparations for organising similar book festivals in all four provinces. It was decided in a meeting that the book festival would be held in major cities of all four provinces including Hyderabad, Bahawalpur, Quetta and Peshawar.
Irfan Siddiqui said that book friendship movements would also be started and people from all walks of life would be encouraged to come forward and take part in the movement. The National Book Foundation (NBF) official said that the calculation of books bought by visitors at National Book Festival under process and soon it would be shared with the people.
He said that according to an estimate millions of Rupees books bought by the visitors. He said that it was said that the books reading habits on decline in Pakistan but the record visitors at book festival showing that people want to read books.
